This is a very early picture of the Cowethas an Yeth Kernewek Cambron, Camborne Cornish Language Fellowship, taken outside the Girl Guide's hut behind the Community Centre where it all began... there has of course been a lot of water under the bridge since then

It was about 30 years ago that Cowethas an Yeth Kernewek Cambron, (Camborne Cornish Language Fellowship) was first formed, and we were situated then in the Girl Guides' hut behind the Camborne Community Centre, (pictured left), until about 12 years ago when the increasing cost of renting the room from the Council encouraged our relocation to our present site in the Centenary Centre behind the beautiful Centenary Chapel, pictured on our home page. The Cowethas has always been at the forefront of teaching our beloved language here in Cornwall, and has, over the years, claimed many senior members of the language movement and indeed the Gorseth Kernow, as our own members. We aim to teach Cornish at all levels, and we are affiliated to Agan Tavas, the society for the promotion and protection of the Cornish Language, and our chosen form of Cornish is known as Unified, which has been used since the early 1900s as the standard form. As a group we always maintain a presence at Camborne's Trevithick's Day where our stall can be found selling books in and about Cornish, as well as signing up our next intake of students.
